Dental Assistant

Job Title: Dental Assistant

Location: Central Jersey

Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time/Temporary


Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienists to provide quality oral healthcare to our patients. The ideal candidate will be reliable, efficient, and dedicated to creating a positive experience for our patients during their dental visits. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare treatment rooms for      dental procedures by setting up instruments and equipment.
  • Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including chairside assisting and providing instruments and      materials as needed.
  • Take and develop dental x-rays under the supervision of the dentist.
  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain dental      materials, such as cement, impression materials, and restorative      materials.
  • Perform office tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintaining patient records.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene, post-operative care instructions, and preventive dental care.
  • Take impressions and prepare dental models as directed by the dentist.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of dental supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and office policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent training.
  • CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail a commitment to patient safety and comfort.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic health records (EHR) systems.


Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a      dental assistant is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures is advantageous.


Working Conditions:

  • Clinical environment, potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • May involve occasional evening or weekend hours, depending on the practice's schedule.
